Doing Our Part During Quarantine

By: Marc Lobliner

These are tough times, and they have forced us to think of things in terms of “essential” versus “non-essential”. Non-essential goods would be things you don’t need to survive, like artwork, shopping malls, and couches. Whereas essential would mean groceries, medicine and other items one would need to survive. When the pandemic hit, we realized the importance of what we all can do to sustain in the event of a natural disaster or in this case, a viral pandemic.

Things like meat and fresh produce go bad in days, and without proper refrigeration can go bad in hours. Long term things to stock up on are:

  • Rice
  • Canned Goods (veggies, fruit, beans)
  • Tuna
  • Packaged Goods
  • Powder Nutrition
  • Protein Bars
  • Peanut Butter and other Nut Butter
  • Essential fats like Olive Oil

We have been working feverishly to scale production of The Outright Bar and MTS Nutrition Machine Whey to meet demands. When magazines and newspapers such as Business Insider recommended that “Protein bars and protein powder are good to have in stock”, demand shot up dramatically.

From a nutrition standpoint, the Outright Bar is perfect for this. A 12-month shelf-life, adequate, high-quality whey protein, monounsaturated fats from peanut butter and the superfood honey, that contains tremendous antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The Outright Bar is also available in nut-free (sunflower seed butter based), vegan and higher-protein varieties.

As for protein powder, MTS Nutrition Machine Whey is a great protein source in a pinch. Our whey protein blend has a shelf-life of 24 months and DOES have some naturally occurring carbohydrates and fat which will act more like a meal by digesting slower and providing nutrients you need.

Rice and beans, when combined, form a complete protein and also, when you add some healthy fat like olive oil, is a complete and balanced meal. Peanut butter and other nut butters are a great addition to your diet and provide essential nutrients. Make sure to always keep these on hand.

This is not meant to be an alarmist post at all, but one thing that I personally learned is that it is always great to have your essentials covered. I for one will always have at least a month's supply of all of the above from now on. Be safe!
