Banded Lat Pulldown

The banded lat pulldown trains the lats and builds back width, mimicking a cable pulldown wherever you can anchor a band overhead. The tension climbs as you pull down and in.

How to Perform

  1. Anchor the band overhead on a door frame or a high bar.
  2. Kneel or sit below it and hold a handle in each hand with your arms extended overhead.
  3. Pull the handles down and out toward your shoulders, driving your elbows down and back.
  4. Squeeze your lats at the bottom of the pull.
  5. Let the band return overhead under control, feeling the stretch in your lats.

Tips

  • Think about pulling your elbows into your back pockets.
  • Keep your chest up and avoid leaning back to yank the band down.
  • Get a full stretch at the top before each rep.
