Suspension Plank
The suspension plank turns a standard plank into a serious core challenge by putting your feet in the straps. The instability forces your abs, obliques and shoulders to fire constantly just to keep you still.
How to Perform
- Set the straps low, place your feet in the cradles and set your forearms on the floor under your shoulders.
- Brace your core and lift into a plank so your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
- Squeeze your abs and glutes to keep your hips level and stop the straps from swaying.
- Hold the position for the prescribed time, breathing steadily.
- Lower your knees to finish the set under control.
Tips
- Squeeze your glutes and brace your abs to stop your hips from sagging or swinging.
- Start with short holds; the instability makes it much harder than a floor plank.
- Keep your neck neutral and your gaze at the floor.
