Neck Flexion

Neck flexion strengthens the front of the neck, which protects athletes from whiplash and impact and builds a fuller, more athletic look. Lying face-up with light resistance on your forehead, you curl your chin toward your chest under control.

How to Perform

  1. Lie face-up on a bench with your head hanging just off the end.
  2. Hold a light weight plate wrapped in a towel against your forehead, or use just your head to start.
  3. Tuck your chin and curl your head up toward your chest through a full, comfortable range.
  4. Pause briefly at the top, then lower slowly under control.
  5. Keep the movement smooth; never jerk or snap the neck.

Tips

  • Start with no weight or very light load; the neck needs easing into.
  • Move slowly on both the lift and the lower.
  • Stop immediately if you feel any sharp pain or dizziness.
