About this workout
A suspension trainer turns your own bodyweight and a single anchored strap into a full gym. It travels anywhere, sets up in seconds, and builds real strength, muscle and control by making you stabilize every rep. This 6 week full body plan uses nothing but the straps to train your whole body three days a week. You adjust the difficulty just by changing your body angle, so it grows with you. Perfect for home, travel, or adding variety to your training.
Who This Program Is For
- You want to train your whole body with a suspension trainer.
- You can train three days a week.
- You have a suspension trainer and a solid anchor point.
- You want a portable, joint-friendly way to build strength and muscle.
Who this is NOT for: anyone chasing maximum size or strength; bodyweight straps build a strong, lean base but cannot load like heavy weights. It is fantastic for control, core and travel training.
What You'll Need
- A suspension trainer and a secure overhead anchor.
- A little floor space.
- An understanding that you change difficulty by adjusting your foot position and body angle.
The Program
Three full body days on non-consecutive days. On every exercise, you set the difficulty by how far you lean or step in or out; make each set challenging in the target rep range. Move under control, and use the straps to help you pause and feel each rep.

How to Progress
Six weeks of getting stronger by increasing the difficulty of each movement.
Weeks 1 to 2. Learn each exercise at an angle you can control cleanly, and get comfortable adjusting the difficulty with your body position.
Weeks 3 to 4. Make each movement harder by stepping your feet closer or leaning into a steeper angle, so the same reps become more challenging.
Weeks 5 to 6. Push each set close to failure at your hardest sustainable angle, and add reps where you can. Progress on straps comes from leverage and reps, not added weight.
Warm-Up and Recovery Notes
Warm up with a few minutes of easy movement and some light, shallow-angle strap reps before your working sets. This primes the muscles and the anchor.
Suspension work is easy on the joints and hard on the core, so three days a week is very sustainable. Sleep and protein still build the muscle.
Nutrition and Supplementation
To build a lean, strong body, eat enough protein and enough total food. Aim for about 0.8 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight.
Simple support: protein powder to hit your target and a daily multivitamin to cover the gaps. Keep it simple.
FAQ
Can a suspension trainer build muscle? Yes, especially for beginners and for the upper body and core. You build a strong, lean, controlled physique, though it cannot load the legs as heavily as weights.
How do I make exercises harder? Change your body angle. Stepping your feet closer to the anchor or leaning further into the strap increases the challenge without any added weight.
Is it good for travel? Perfect. It packs into a bag, anchors to a door or a tree, and gives you a full body workout anywhere.
