Banded Woodchop
The banded woodchop builds a strong, functional core by training rotation and anti-rotation together. Anchor a band high or low and chop across your body to work the obliques and abs.
How to Perform
- Anchor the band at about shoulder height to one side of you.
- Stand side-on with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the band with both hands.
- Keeping your arms mostly straight, rotate your torso and pull the band down and across to the opposite hip.
- Control the band back to the start, resisting the pull.
- Complete all reps on one side, then switch and anchor on the other side.
Tips
- Rotate from your core, not just your arms; let your torso turn.
- Keep your hips fairly stable so the obliques do the work.
- Move at a controlled speed; this is about tension, not momentum.
