Suspension Row

The suspension row builds a strong, thick back using nothing but your bodyweight and a strap. Because you set the difficulty with your body angle, it scales from beginner to brutal, and the constant tension makes every rep count.

How to Perform

  1. Set the straps to about waist height and grab a handle in each hand.
  2. Walk your feet forward and lean back with your arms extended, body in a straight line from head to heels.
  3. Keep your core braced and pull your chest to the handles by driving your elbows back and squeezing your shoulder blades.
  4. Pause and squeeze your back at the top of the pull.
  5. Lower under control until your arms are straight again, keeping your body rigid.

Tips

  • The more you walk your feet forward and the more horizontal you get, the harder it is.
  • Lead with the elbows and think about pulling with your back, not your arms.
  • Keep your hips up so your body stays in one straight line.
