About this workout
Every photo from your wedding lasts forever, so it is no wonder you want to look your absolute best. This 8 week plan is built to get you there, whether you are the one getting married or in the wedding party. Four sensible upper/lower days a week tone your arms, shoulders and back for the suit or the dress, while a smart diet leans you out. It is beginner friendly and realistic, no crash dieting, just steady work that has you feeling confident and looking sharp when all eyes are on you.
Who This Program Is For
- You have a wedding in about eight weeks and want to look and feel your best.
- You can train four days a week.
- You have access to a gym.
- You want a realistic, beginner-friendly plan, not a crash program.
Who this is NOT for: anyone hoping to crash-diet their way to a dramatic change in a couple of weeks. Give it the full eight weeks and be sensible; that is what actually works.
What You'll Need
- A gym with dumbbells, cables and machines.
- A sustainable diet in a modest deficit, no crash dieting before a stressful event.
- A log to track your progress and stay motivated.
The Program
Four days: two upper, two lower. The upper days sharpen the arms, shoulders and back that show in photos and attire; the lower days keep you balanced and burn extra calories. Keep rest moderate and the effort real, and let a sensible diet do the leaning out.

How to Progress
Eight weeks of steady, photo-ready progress.
Weeks 1 to 3. Learn the movements and settle into the four day routine. Start your modest diet now; consistency over eight weeks beats any crash.
Weeks 4 to 6. Add a little weight or a rep as sets feel easy. You should be feeling tighter and more confident.
Weeks 7 to 8. Hold your strength, keep the diet steady, and avoid the temptation to crash diet the final week. Arrive at the wedding looking and feeling your best.
Warm-Up and Recovery Notes
Warm up with five minutes of easy cardio and a light set. It eases you in and keeps you healthy through the eight weeks.
Weddings are stressful, and stress and poor sleep sabotage results. Protect your sleep, manage stress, and keep meals consistent even as the planning ramps up.
Nutrition and Supplementation
Leaning out is about the diet. Eat in a modest, sustainable deficit with enough protein, around 0.8 to 1 gram per pound of bodyweight, and do not crash diet before such an important, tiring day.
Simple support: protein powder to keep protein high while eating less, and a daily multivitamin. Keep it simple and be kind to yourself through a busy season.
FAQ
How much can I change in eight weeks? Quite a lot if you are consistent, especially if you are newer to training. You will look tighter and more toned and, most importantly, feel confident.
Should I crash diet the week before? No. Crash dieting before a stressful, tiring event leaves you flat and drained. A steady, modest deficit across eight weeks is what works and keeps you feeling good.
I am in the wedding party, not the bride or groom. Is this still for me? Absolutely. It is for anyone who wants to look and feel their best in the photos and attire.
